Is there an ever-flowing fountain of compassion deeper than warm holiday feelings that pass with the season? In the first two chapters of Luke, it is striking that the Holy Spirit is mentioned seven times. His work is cited in the lives of the unborn John the Baptist 1: Are we alert to His promptings and eager to obey? Will we allow His warmth and love to fill our hearts and flow through our hands? Today, the presence and power of Christ remain with us through the Holy Spirit, who is the true, eternal Spirit of Christmas—all year long. Let the fullness of Thy Spirit Fall upon us here this hour. How we need a new anointing Of the Holy Ghost and power. Blessed is she that believed:

History[ edit ] Illustration in a 19th-century book depicting physiognomy. The origins of personality assessment date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, when personality was assessed through phrenology , the measurement of bumps on the human skull, and physiognomy , which assessed personality based on a person’s outer appearances. Based on the lexical hypothesis, Galton estimated the number of adjectives that described personality in the English dictionary Galton’s list was eventually refined by Louis Leon Thurstone to 60 words that were commonly used for describing personality at the time.
The self-report inventory involves administration of many items requiring respondents to introspectively assess their own personality characteristics. This is highly subjective, and because of item transparency, such Q-data measures are highly susceptible to motivational and response distortion. A sample item on a personality questionnaire, for example, might ask respondents to rate the degree to which they agree with the statement “I talk to a lot of different people at parties” on a scale from 1 “strongly disagree” to 5 “strongly agree”.

Once we overcome shyness or modesty, however, we almost all enjoy reminiscing. As the years advance, a “life review” is particularly rewarding, but at any age it can be a great pleasure and an amazing source of insights. If you’re one of the younger members of your family, take my word for it: You may not be eager to hear family stories now, but eventually you will.
Having those voices on tape, having the stories behind those photographs preserved, is a far more meaningful legacy in the long term than most other physical legacies. And in the short term the material can enliven a special occasion, such as a major anniversary, birthday, or memorial service. Indeed, one way to improve the care an elderly patient receives in a hospital or nursing home is to write a brief history of their life and tape it to the door, making them a person with a story and not just another old patient.
An experienced interviewer with a good tape recorder can capture memories that your family will cherish for generations. If someone in your family has stories to tell, and can’t tell them on their own, encourage them to work with an interviewer. Start with a family photo history, with captions! Make a CD of it for everyone in the family.
